Edge and Son in New Ferry was established in 1844 but the Edge family had already been trading in meat for 2 generations prior to this date. We originated from the village of Edge near Tilston in Cheshire where our forefathers used to walk livestock to the ports of Liverpool to ship to the Isle of Man. The shop in New Ferry was built in 1844.
We have always based our business on providing, what we consider, with our 6 generations of experience, the best local bred, fed, kept stock we can source. We do not tolerate unnatural foodstuffs, growth promoters or anything we may consider inappropriate in a healthy diet or a healthy environment.
Because we only buy from local farmers who we work closely with to produce the best quality, we can offer complete traceability for our customers and ensure that the highest levels of animal welfare are adhered to.
All of our rare breed produce is butchered at our site in New Ferry by our own team.
So what do we offer and how can you buy it directly from us?
We offer the very best beef, lamb, pork and poultry and in addition we offer seasonal produce such as Game, Turkeys and Geese. We make all of our own sausages and burgers from our rare breed stock.
